Live Updates: Obama Arrives In Kenya

4: 00 PM: Obama set to hold talks with Obama at Villa Rosa Kempinski hotel in Nairobi

2: 30 PM: Heavy security has been deployed in Siaya ahead of Obama’s visit on Monday to launch the Sauti Kuu Institute.

2: 00 PM: Obama starts talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.

1: 50 PM: Reports indicate that Obama will also hold talks with opposition leader Raila Odinga. It is not clear whether the meeting will be held at State House.

1:45 PM: Obama’s motorcade heads to State House. The former US President is expected to hold talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta. Here is the video courtesy of KTN News

1:30 PM: Obama arrives in Kenya. Unlike in 2015, traffic on major roads has not be disrupted.

1:10 PM: Heavy police presence reported along Mombasa Road and strategic points in the city.

1:00 PM: Traffic along Mombasa Road flowing normally. Obama is expected to use the road from JKIA.

Former US President Barack Obama is expected to arrive in the country today. Obama will be in the country until Monday. He is expected to meet with President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga on Sunday evening.

He will then leave for his ancestral village in K’Ogelo, Siaya, on Monday morning. In Siaya Obama will launch the Sauti Kuu, resource center.
